Birds of Prey Experiences

Enjoy a one-to-one handling and flying experience with an array of birds of prey, including owls and hawks, in beautiful surroundings.

 This unique falconry experience allows you to fly them to and from your gloved hand, so be sure to bring a camera for the many photo opportunities that will arise.

 Set in the stunning countryside of Herefordshire, you will be captivated by the breathtaking scenery of either the Brecon Beacons or Shropshire Hills as you partake in this unforgettable experience.

Perfect experience for anyone who is Owl mad and definitely a favourite for children and Harry Potter fans alike, ("Potterheads"). 

Owls are the most popular Birds of Prey species and this is an opportunity to handle and fly them during an up close and personal experience.

The Falconer will explain their unique characteristics, evolutionary features and hunting methods.  

You will be allowed to fly them to and from your hand, so make sure to bring a camera, as there will be plenty of photo opportunities. 

This experience is conducted in the stunning countryside of Herefordshire, with the beautiful scenery of the either the Brecon Beacons or Shropshire Hills, in the background.

Instead of taking the dog for a walk, or a having a leisurely stroll, through a beautiful, quiet woodland, why not go out for a 1-Hour Walk with Aztec, the Harris Hawk.

Watch him fly through the trees, demonstrating his coordination and agility. 

Every so often, you will be allowed to reward Aztec with a piece of food and witness him return from the tall trees to you, wearing the Falconer's glove.

Make sure to bring a camera, as there will be plenty of photo opportunities. 

This experience is conducted in the stunning countryside and woodlands of Herefordshire.

This experience includes either a Birds of Prey Experience OR an Owl Experience, followed by a Hawk Walk. 

Fly your choice of birds first, followed by a walk with Aztec, in the quiet woodlands.

This experience is conducted in the stunning countryside and woodlands of Herefordshire.

The Art of Falconry is using a trained Bird of Prey to catch game in its natural state.

 Falconry is about being in the countryside, beating the cover and flushing the game for the birds to chase and catch. 

During this experience you can watch Harris Hawks fly through different habitats in order to catch their quarry (prey).

Should the Hawks be successful in their endeavours, you are welcome to take the game home.

* Please be aware, there is a chance of witnessing an animal, caught by the birds during this event.

This experience is ONLY available during the Game Season from 1st October – 1st February, each year.

Suitable for Beginners, Amateur and Professional Photographers, alike. 

Take photographs of the Wye Valley Falconry’s Team of Birds of Prey, on natural-looking static perches, such as a log, branch, fence or post. 

Challenge yourself on trickier motion shots, whether it’s the Bird of Prey flying towards you, chasing after a lure, or catching objects high in the sky.

This experience is suitable for 1 to 15 people, with a price range according to numbers participating. 

Duration options range from 1 - 4 hours.

Up to 8 Birds of Prey, will participate in a Flying Display, demonstrating aerial agility and natural hunting techniques.

 A full team of Birds of Prey will be present and you will receive an Educational Talk about their behaviour, evolutionary features and hunting techniques.

An almost one-on-one experience, allowing the Residents to see a selection of the Birds of Prey, close-up, as well as the opportunity to handle one of the birds.

Wye Valley Falconry can visit your own home, (although there may be limited flying opportunities) OR you can visit one of our locations in Herefordshire for your party.

 Wye Valley Falconry offers a standard package for Summer Fetes, on the basis that the average duration is around 2 and half hours. 

 We set up a static display, under a gazebo, with 6 - 7 Birds of Prey that will include Owls, Hawks and Falcons.

Your visitors can view the birds on their perches and ask questions.

As part of the Event Programme, I will deliver 2 Flying Displays of approximately 15 - 20 minutes each, where Visitors can observe the birds' aerial agility, natural hunting technique and behaviour.

This is, of course, totally flexible, based upon your other entertainment arrangements.

Gulls, crows and pigeons can be a real nuisance; they nest in inappropriate places and make an awful mess. 

Wye Valley Falconry can offer a service called Predatory Response, whereby flying a Bird of Prey, on a regular basis, makes pest birds, as in those named above, feel uncomfortable.

This will be to such a degree that they will feel unsettled, unsafe and finally leave the area.

This service is appropriate for numerous locations including hospitals, industrial estates, landfill sites, farms, orchards, rugby/football stadiums, car showrooms, and may be used complementary to other pest control measures.

In addition, this is a viable option to any building that would not desire spikes or netting erected on them, for aesthetic reasons, such as cathedrals, churches, stately homes or manor houses.
